Tracking and ZIP codes

Tracking listing ZIP 55212

I'm glad the package is safely in my hands despite what the page says. The apparent state of the USPS tracking system makes me wonder about using them in the future though.

#
By JoeBuck on 2008/02/25 at 13:47:16

I've never been a fan of the usps tracking. Often a package doesn't show up in the system until a day or two after it's shipped. Often I have the box before their shipped even acknowledges the tracking #.

Also, the zip code in this case means the box went to area 51. They're onto you mooney, the man knows....

#
By Jeremy on 2008/02/25 at 20:10:32

Yea, it was apparently delivered shortly after 6am, and the email wasn't sent until after 12:30. That's quicker than normal. As for sending, the day or two is annoying (and yes, sometimes I too haven't been able to tell it to notify me until after it's arrived). With UPS and FedEx I can generally get the emails before the package makes it to my office, and I can add the number the evening of shipping at the latest (often right away).

By darkflux on 2011/06/30 at 20:43:06

it's DEFINITELY somewhere in Minnesota. my package is purportedly coming from St. Paul, and since Eagan is less than 30 minutes away, and there is a major USPS hub in Eagan (my dad worked for the USPS for YEARS), odds are, 55212 is actually 55121 spelled wrong. 55121 is one of Eagan's 4 Zip Codes:
http://www.mongabay.com/igapo/zip_codes/MN.htm

human error accounts for more than 90% of all computer mistakes, and there are so many people who are even SLIGHTLY dyselxic these days, and with the way the postal workers are rushed (many "go postal" for this reason), it is no shock that they will make even MORE mistakes.

what i find TRULY intriguing, is that on this page:
http://www.brainyzip.com/state/zip_minnesota.html

the 55200's are ALL completely missing from the Zip Code system (though, by the patterns, it would seem St. Paul would get them).

I Know ITS SCARY!!!!!!

#
By babada on 2008/02/26 at 16:04:39

I must be missing something. What am I looking at?

#
By Jeremy on 2008/02/26 at 18:10:58

Try to find ZIP 55212.

#
By BGerdin on 2009/03/09 at 10:32:06

I just happened to look at my package on USPS and it is in the same phantom zip code. I feel more comforted that you received your package. I also love it that you're page is the first one that pops up in Google when you search "zip code 55212".

#
By Zef on 2011/05/25 at 01:03:29

I found 55212 on Google...But it's actually 55 212 and it's in the Czech Republic...That's close to Philadelphia where my package came from...right??...

#
By Lisa on 2011/06/03 at 14:56:46

This zip code is in Eagan MN

#
By Jenn on 2011/06/22 at 23:45:10

This is not an Eagan, MN zip code. Eagan, MN is 55120, 55121, 55122, and 55123. I live in Eagan I know for a fact that 55212 is not us.

#
By Melissa on 2008/08/10 at 20:51:57

Thank GOD I came across this webpage. I was frantically searching for ten minutes this zip code that apparently my package is in.

#
By mac on 2008/09/28 at 10:32:11

Thanks for starting this post. I too was trying to track my package for an estimated arrival date and it said it was in zip code 55212. Thank goodness we can google things like this and get some confidence that we will get our packages.

#
By Jeremy on 2008/09/28 at 12:47:41

I find it rather disappointing that this bug is apparently still in their tracking system 8 months later.

#
By Kristy on 2010/10/24 at 21:18:32

try 2 years later, still same problem. my tracking scan info:

October 24, 2010 11:30:00 UNKNOWN, UN 55212 PROCESSED
October 24, 2010 09:32:00 UNKNOWN, UN 55212 PROCESSED

#
By TB on 2010/10/25 at 10:31:09

I get this from USPS tracking:

Processed through Sort Facility, October 24, 2010, 9:43 am, ZIP Code 55212

Electronic Shipping Info Received, October 22, 2010

I thought my package was coming from the east or west coast.

#
By M on 2011/02/20 at 21:47:56

Awesome, my package is in the 55212 today! I can't believe they still haven't fixed this error in their systems.

#
By Lisa on 2011/06/03 at 14:16:44

6-3-11-still in the system-my package is there-

#
By Emily on 2011/07/21 at 13:18:59

my package has been there 3 days now and it was suppose to be delivered today...but i watched the postal worker come and go with no sign of any packages....sigh.

#
By John on 2008/10/12 at 22:08:14

I'm also getting this zip code, I'm not sure why they even have it. I was confused by it too, and apparently this is like the only page I've found that's been even remotely helpful.

#
By k on 2008/11/24 at 14:37:14

wow.. i'm glad i'm not the only one who checked this 55212 thing out. thanks for this thread, i was getting worried. :-P

#
By Ryan on 2008/12/01 at 12:55:58

I'm waiting for a package today, and it looks like it'll forever be in 55212... I got excited because the area around where I live has 55XXX ZIP codes. Oh well!

#
By Burt on 2008/12/28 at 19:11:51

Eagan, MN, ZIP code 55212

#
By Jeremy on 2008/12/28 at 21:15:23

According to USPS, Eagan is 55120, 55121, 55122 and 55123. 55212 isn't in their database.

#
By Jana on 2009/02/08 at 10:12:33

No eagan's zip codes are 55123 and 55124 and i think 55125 i live there and my package is in limbo also!

#
By Eric on 2009/03/01 at 12:07:45

55125 is Woodbury, MN

#
By Brigitte on 2011/06/24 at 08:36:57

55124 is Richfield.

#
By Jim on 2009/01/02 at 11:36:10

Hmmmmm....The mysterious 55212 zip code lives! My package is confirmed to be currently residing in 55212. Think I'll ever see it?

#
By Leif on 2009/01/12 at 07:07:58

55212 is a typo - it should be 55121.

#
By John on 2009/01/20 at 09:14:18

Still happens as of today. I shot them an email about it. Who knows, maybe someone will actually do something about it.

J.T.

#
By Brigitte on 2011/06/24 at 08:39:51

They won't. They are government run and don't give a ****. They lost a package of mine at Christmas time and acted like I was crazy for thinking there was a problem with that. I wish I could get paid so much to care so little...

#
By Jeremy on 2009/01/20 at 19:34:48

If it is a typo, it's unfortunate it's still around a year later (and who knows for how long before I took the screenshot).

#
By Erin on 2009/01/20 at 15:57:12

I too have a package that's been 3 days in Zip Code 55212. I sent them an email about it, and haven't heard a response. Thanks to you for clearing this up.

#
By mange on 2009/01/26 at 06:58:36

I have a package coming airmail from Hong Kong that currently resides in 55212. I've seen a couple folks comment about packages to / from Minnesota. I'm in Minnesota, so it would make sense if it is an Eagan typo.

#
By michael on 2009/02/03 at 15:26:10

its still here damn usps ive been waiting a month for a package

#
By John on 2009/02/23 at 09:40:44

Yes I live in MN as well and my package is now in that zip code....i could believe it is Eagan MN cuz i live northern MN at zip 5574* so i hope my package dont get stuck at this "mysterious ZIP code"

#
By Jennifer on 2009/03/04 at 18:08:22

I have been waiting for a package through an Amazon seller. It was sent 02/16/09 and now today it shows it's been processed at zip code 55212. I have been waiting 2 weeks. I live in west central MN. Hopefully it will get here and USPS will get this cleared up! I do know the seller said she sent it media mail so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

#
By Anneli on 2009/03/08 at 18:37:25

I live in Duluth (5580*), and I have an eBay package just delivered to the mysterious 55212!

#
By Sam on 2009/03/09 at 08:50:13

I have an ebay package now at the wierd zip code. this is pretty bad of the USPS.

#
By Jon on 2009/03/16 at 09:07:46

The USPS has a huge mail processing/distribution center in Eagan, MN. It my have its own zip for that purpose. For those of you in the area it is located on Lexinton between Lone Oak and Yankee Doodle.

#
By Jake on 2009/11/23 at 06:10:14

Exactly!!! Relax...

(But I love the post regarding the "someone's at the front door.") ...Good stuff!!

#
By Brigitte on 2011/06/24 at 08:43:04

I drive by it every day. It is not THAT big that it should need its own zip code. Especially if the Mall Of America doesn't get ITS own zip code. I'm guessing it's a typo that nobody cares enough to fix.

#
By Jim on 2011/06/28 at 16:13:39

I sent a priority package from Huntsville AL to Eau Clair WI on the 22nd of this month and they said it would be delivered on the 24th. It was processed through the zip code 55212 and here it is the 28th and the package still has not been delivered. There are tons of complaints about this facility but yet no one in USPS is fixing the problem.

#
By Travis on 2009/03/29 at 12:27:24

I too just bought a package and says it left 55212 and I live in central MN(5506*) and hope it makes it to my house. Hope usps fixes the error soon.

#
By rick on 2009/03/30 at 08:39:09

I have a package comming from zip code 55212 and i live in minnesota my zip code is 55112 moundsview hop to get it soon

#
By Mingjai on 2009/03/30 at 09:36:04

Interesting... I happened to win two separate things off ebay from separate sellers, but they both we mailed about the same time. I checked the two tracking numbers and they both were processed and left 55212 yesterday on their way to my Maplewood (5510*) address. I'm curious what the delivery time between this zip code and Twin Cities metro addresses is.

#
By Nicole on 2009/04/06 at 08:11:44

I too checked my package tracking today to find it in the 55212 zip code. I also reside in Minnesota so I'm thinking the assumptions that the USPS processing plant is correct and I am hoping to see my package arrive soon.

#
By Scott on 2009/04/06 at 11:16:44

Im in MN also. I got the phantom zip, and my normal zip is 55912. I think it must be the third digit (2) is screwed up somehow.

#
By Tyler on 2009/04/19 at 15:47:13

yup my package is in zipcode 55212 too and just to let you guys know it is eagan, minnesota so that meens my package will be here soon, there the imfumus zip code was found!

#
By Jinni on 2009/04/20 at 17:36:24

Yeah - it's a typo.

I called about it. I don't know if they will fix it, but it
"55212" is supposed to be the Eagan, MN post office hub. I live in Roseville so it is really close and now I'm excited to get my mail tomorrow! haha

It isn't a scam ... :) Everyone rest assured your package is in a real place.

#
By Kimberly on 2010/10/25 at 10:45:15

Thanks for the correct info - everyone was sounding like the aliens had our packages. Darn conspiracy theorists!

#
By molly on 2009/05/31 at 21:16:42

thanks I am so excited to get my package tommrow

#
By Jenna on 2009/08/02 at 11:48:35

It's still not fixed, I found I sent out an Ebay package and my package is at this zip.

#
By john on 2009/08/03 at 00:17:49

It's not fixed, I bought an item off ebay last week, and it's tracking to 55212 as well. Maybe above comment was right "it's so big it needs it's own zip code." Sorta like yo mama so fat, she needs her own zip code.

#
By Rob on 2009/08/30 at 17:09:14

And now you want the Gov. to take over health care?

#
By Linds on 2009/09/14 at 09:37:17

My package tracking says my item has been processed at and left the 55212 zip code. Like all of you, I searched it and ended up here. What a crazy mistake to have!! seriously, it kind of freaked me out when I couldn't find the zip code. I want my package! Hopefully it will arrive today though :) At least it's out of the phantom zip code.

#
By T.R. Lemming on 2009/09/14 at 11:42:25

A different spin.
I also live in Minnesota (Rochester) and am tracking a package that has "Enroute, Sep-13-09, 11:35 AM, UNKNOWN, 55212" as its point of origin...the next stop is, "Enroute, Sep-10-09, 20:51 PM, SHREWSBURY, MA, 01546". Now the seller has Massachusetts listed as her address, but I did not receive her full address on the shipping invoice, which is in itself unusual. Could it be that the USPS has an anonymous Point of Origin option for anyone highly protective of their private residence?

#
By Ginny on 2009/09/27 at 17:54:50

It would make sense for the mysterious 55212 zip code to be in Eagan. I'm from Rochester, MN and drove through Eagan on numerous occasions commuting from Rochester to Minneapolis for college, and Eagan (from what I know, has a huge USPS warehouse there. It's not unusual to see lines of brown vans rolling by...

#
By Mary on 2009/09/28 at 11:14:30

Was trying to track my package. It is at unknown 55212 over one and one-half years after this stream of logs began. Tried to find out where that is on USPS and Zip info sites to no avail. One would think that USPS would have made a correction by now. Glad for this website. I should get my package tomorrow. H-m-mm, makes one wonder how the universal public health care plan will work.

#
By crappy USPS on 2009/10/01 at 16:42:24

Well I had a package sent from the southern US to the northern US Priority with tracking. It was sent one week ago. The last I heard of it, it was processed through this 55212 facility and sent on to it's destination. But that destination is close to where I live and that was 5 days ago. Anyone have this problem? I was told it's a machine sorter there, so it could have sent my package to the wrong part of the country, and that's why it's taking so long. But as of right now, it's just gone missing. Which is annoying.

#
By Pissed on 2009/10/08 at 14:28:46

I too shipped a package 9/25/09 and it is stuck at zip 55212 since 9/27/09. I called to report it and was told I'd get a call back in 2 business days that was 5 days ago...no word yet. It is 10/8/09. my package is still in limbo. Rrrr...

#
By Josh on 2009/10/25 at 22:24:32

I work with a guy who also works at the Eagan UPS sorting plant. He said 55212 is in fact a typo, and that it should read 55121. He mentioned something about the system won't just let them go in and change it as easy as it sounds. In any case, if your package is still at the plant you should call the Eagan, MN plant and inquire about it there. Thanks.

#
By Ben on 2009/10/26 at 10:15:24

I have a package coming from Florida to VA... so probably no way it would go to Eagan, MN first... that being said... it's probably just a code that exists for the sorting facility.

#
By Ben on 2009/10/26 at 11:29:40

I'll take that back... that was for a package I was shipping to Wisconsin... so very possible it is the Eagan UPS sorting plant code

#
By Jon V. on 2009/10/31 at 06:04:32

I am from Woodbury, MN - ordered a textbook back on 10/17/09 but it never arrived. My tracked and it shows 55212 the same deal many of you have. I called USPS and they told me they have idea where 55212 is. Still waiting.

#
By Jon V. on 2009/10/31 at 06:06:03

It should be worded as "have no idea".

#
By Matt B on 2009/11/09 at 08:18:28

I live in Red Wing MN and also have the 55212, pretty sure it's just the code for the Eagan facility.

#
By Tom on 2009/11/10 at 17:54:32

I got a Priority Mail package yesterday that passed through 55212 on Sunday. Live near Eagan.

i Live In Austin Minnesota And My Package is now in that 55212

#
By Hormel on 2009/11/16 at 08:49:55

Before the Hormel plant closed Hormel was the sole holder of the 55212 zip code. Now I think it is mainly used by the infamous Austin, MN drug cartels

#
By In The on 2009/11/16 at 08:47:34

My 2nd cousin works for the US government. He does some kind of research that he doesn't say much about other than it would bore us to death if he even tried to go into it. One night, after a glass of wine too many, my cousin did tell me the whole story on the 55212 zip code. I was shocked that our government would crea...hold on, brb someone's at the front door

#
By Jake on 2009/11/23 at 06:10:46

Hillarious!!! LMAO!!

#
By Ken on 2009/11/16 at 11:51:26

This way to much information on zip 55212. I dont think the
goverment wants us to know all this. I hope I get my package
out of there.

#
By Neil on 2009/11/29 at 10:59:02

This is fucking bullshit, almost every other time I order something it says that 55212. Im going to call them fuckers up tomorrow and find out what the fuck is going on, they got to get there shit together.

#
By Alex on 2009/11/29 at 17:31:41

#
By PMaster on 2009/12/02 at 07:39:55

55212 IS the Bulk Mail center in Eagan MN.

#
By JT on 2009/12/13 at 18:18:04

Was reading this and greatly amused as a package of mine is in 55212. So did some research and found this. I love it. But answer me this, if you look up all zip codes numberically why does it go from 55191, St Paul, MN, Ramsey
55301, Albertville, MN, Wright
What happened to the ones in between? Hmmm?

#
By b on 2010/01/04 at 08:46:31

I hope Obama isn't stressing over this as much as we are. although it would explain alot.

#
By S on 2010/01/10 at 13:31:17

I am tracking my item from ebay as well! I've ordered plently of items in the past few years but this is the first that I've encountered this 55212 area code. I researched it right away because it didn't state a city or state. From reading all your posts it seems it will be in Eagan... I hope so, since I'm in maplewood, i hope to get my package tomorrow. How long did it take some of you guys to get your packages after it has processed and left this 55212 area? I'm getting nervous cause some of you guys have said that your package was stuck there for a long time.

#
By bzag on 2010/01/11 at 00:47:19

Actually zip code 55212 is the last stop before ... THE TWILIGHT ZONE !

#
By JRTH on 2010/01/18 at 18:20:31

Here it is 2010 and they still haven't fixed this, yet. Waiting on a package that was processed into and left 55212 on -SUNDAY- Jan 17, 2010. Figured it would be delivered today but no luck, yet.

Hard to believe that our government works this slow ... ok, now that I think of it, no, it's really not.

*sighs*

#
By zvi on 2010/01/24 at 20:10:22

it's a typo, it should be 55122. it's a USPS bulk mail facility. go search for "eagan usps 55122" in maps.google.com

#
By Me on 2010/02/16 at 08:45:30

I live in West Centeral WI and have a package that has been there a week. I took the print out down to the local post office (a sectional center) and talked directly to the postmaster. I was told this (55112) is a processing center (neer the twin city's per our postmaster) that handles mail for ALL zip codes that begin with 5 that have originated outside of the 5 area. The class of mail and space avalable to your sectional center determin how fast it leaves that facility.

#
By Me on 2010/02/16 at 08:48:30

Oops that should be 55212

#
By kat on 2010/02/22 at 09:03:15

my package was at "55212" yesterday, and i received it today. i am also in the twin cities.

#
By r1g0r on 2010/03/07 at 11:37:07

if you examine the numbers "55212" on a telephone, you can find the truth.

55212 = JLA B

that's right! BATMAN is examining all these packages. sniff them carefully when they arrive. you'll smell ammonia, coming from bat guano!

#
By Dee on 2010/09/04 at 16:40:12

It's 9/4/2010 my package went to 55212 on 9/2/2010 - I guess USPS ran out of money before they could correct the problem!!

#
By Fue on 2010/12/15 at 23:52:29

Just tracked my package.....55212 it is!

#
By Katie on 2010/12/22 at 09:02:17

I guess my package was in limbo to for two days. I also live in MN. But, it says now that my package is in my town... I guess we will see. You would think that they could fix it by now!

#
By jen on 2011/02/20 at 16:02:55

My package has joined the ranks of the packages shipped or sorted at mysterious 55212 processing plant. I hope to see it soon... let's hope the universal healthcare runs smoother... my prescription ended up at the 55212...ok, it was funnier in my mind.

#
By Samantha on 2011/02/24 at 12:16:30

Why does USPS even bother having a tracking system? My package was processed through the mysterious zip code 2 days ago which I heard is actually MN. Maybe I can expect my package today since I live in WI.

#
By Jeremy on 2011/02/24 at 19:45:52

Technically it's not a tracking system for most mail, despite their use of the word "Track". They make it clear (unfortunately only when purchasing) that other than express mail it's only delivery confirmation and any tracking is a bonus. Of course incorrect data is quite annoying, but I suspect this is one of the reasons why it's not being fixed.

#
By Pablo on 2011/03/30 at 11:56:18

I've been waiting on a very expensive package for 8 days now and it's at the 55212 sorting facility!

#
By c.a. on 2011/03/31 at 15:49:19

Relax, people, it's not a typo. 55212 is the dedicated zip code designated to the Eagan, MN mail processing center. If there is an error, it is that the USPS does not officially release this zip code in its zip code publications, which is why mapping programs do not recognize it.

#
By mike on 2011/04/07 at 08:29:17

Im in marquette MI and have a package stuck in area 51, I mean zip 55212 - judging by how long its taken I will never see it

I'm so freaking glad I found this page! I called usps because I had two packages sent to me at the same time and only one showed up so when I tried to track the other package the usps website told me that the package was in 55212 and when I looked on map below it said that the package was in Germany!!! I don't know why the person I talked to at usps didnt just explain its in there sort place...

wow geez...i thought it was weird too. i was wondering where the heck zip code 55212 was too...hopefully my package arrives as said on usps...

#
By Tim on 2011/04/12 at 12:31:13

This:

Relax, people, it's not a typo. 55212 is the dedicated zip code designated to the Eagan, MN mail processing center. If there is an error, it is that the USPS does not officially release this zip code in its zip code publications, which is why mapping programs do not recognize it.

This is too funny! I am a Twin Cities, MN native and found this site while trying to figure out - where the heck is 55212. I just want my new golf clubs, but I'm afraid if I venture over to 55212, I'll fall into some sort of black-hole. I guess I'll have to wait another day or two.

They still have not fixes this what 3 years and counting lol.
hope my package makes it from the hole.

#
By KJK on 2011/05/09 at 10:12:02

What is there to fix? It's a legitimate zipcode for a large mail processing facility. The zipcode is only for that building, so why would it need to show up on normal zipcode lists?

#
By Brigitte on 2011/06/24 at 09:05:23

If it's so big it needs its own zip code, why doesn't the MOA get its own zip code?

Just to add my 2 cents, My package I sent to Waite Park MN 56387 was processed thru USPS 55212. Just wondering if They will need radiation suits to open my package once the aliens release it? ROFLMFAO

I live in MN as well and my package was supposed to be delivered today according to the USPS site and its at the mysterious 55212. I'm inclined to agree that usps must have a sort facility in Eagan with its own zip code.

I live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and my package is in the zip code of 55212, how long do you think it will take to get here? (St.Paul is about an 1.45h drive) So how many days until i get my package? :c

I purchased an item out of eBay and have been trying to follow the package movement. USPS showed they electronically received the shipping info the day after the package was shipped! Today, after the journey from CA., the package is at zip55122. Curious to know how soon to expect deliviery I found this site. Fellow EC resident, how soon after your post did it take to receive your pkg??

I live in Saint Paul, MN. Ordered glasses from Zenni optical and they go from China to California. Apparently they were shipped from Cali yesterday night.. and arrived in 55212 at 10pm today. Strange that it only takes one day for a first class package to get from California to a black hole in just one day...? I hope that my package is in fact in Eagan and arrives tomorrow.. I need to seeeee. It would be immoral of the aliens to take away my right to sight!

I sent 3 packages on the same day. 1 to my sister and 2 to my other sister who lives down the street. Now both received 1 package a piece but 2 days apart. How the hell that happen? Now my other package in in la la land with you guys stuff. Have anyone ever had any luck getting their packages from mystery ville? The package is insured but the stuff is irreplacable, cost way more money than the insured price, and is extremely important. I've been collecting baby clothes for my sister since I found out she was having her 1st baby. I had a dispute with them losing a package last year. It took 9 months for them to settle up. That package never left the post office I sent it from. I told myself I would never ship there again and I did. next time its Fedx or UPS!

55212 Strikes again!
I sent an envelope priority mail with tracking on July 2 and it was supposed to arrive in PA on July 5. On its way, it was routed through 55121 (Eagan, MN) for a few hours and then to 55212 for two days. I think this might possibly be a zip code the USPS uses when they do not know where a piece of mail is. This means it might really be the USPS black hole until it is found and rescanned. Just a theory....

#
By pete on 2011/07/08 at 19:18:19

this is what I got to see on my tracking information 3 years later:
July 8, 2011 02:01:00 UNKNOWN, UN 55212 PROCESSED

I'm glad that at least the USPS is making the state unknown as well as the city. *rolls eyes and shakes head*

I think the post that said its a zip for people that want to hide their location when they sell things is probably correct. I have an ebay package that has gone missing, and you guessed it. . .it routed through 55212. I checked the ebay listing and the seller's address is "somewhere in the midwest, USA"!

You think USPS would get this fixed after all these years...or at least not send them through there anymore.

All I can do is wait and hope the package actually makes it through.

I recently bought a car part from a company in Woodbury MN. Through their tracking service I got this:

Your item was processed through and left our ZIP Code 55212 facility on July 20, 2011 at 5:55 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Long story short, from Woodbury MN to London, ON (which is Canada, about 2 hours over the border from Detroit, roughly 3 hours this side of Buffalo). Why would it go from MN, to WI, back to MN? 55212 must be a code used for all north central sorting stations.

USPS was changing there system about this time... I had a package come from California get all the way to Teterboro, NJ (Kearny, NJ is where I usually get packages from) go back to the previous stop in Ohio and back to Teterboro...

In reality it was just their system that registered it wrong the package didn't actually go back and forth.

#
By Joe on 2011/07/30 at 10:37:21

This ZIP code is not an error in the system. The sorting facility building itself in MN has its own ZIP code. Possibly the first building to have its own code was the Merchandise Mart building in Chicago.

So, about my package, which was sent on the 20th. USPS tracking still says its in 'transit' which aparently means they have no fucking clue about it. I called them up on the phone during lunch, and they confirmed their cluelessness, making up excuse after excuse. I called US/Canada Customs, and FINALLY got a straight answer. Got home, and it was in my mail box :)

This is good considering their flat rate international small box delivery time was 6-10 busines days. It cleared customs and came all the way from Detroit to me in less than 24 hours, but it sat in Eagan, MN for a week and a half. Kudos, USPS, for fucking me around royally. I will remember to go with FedEx next time!!!

#
By Spazmatastic on 2011/08/07 at 00:30:50

The zip 55212 IS the Eagan, MN processing center. They are notorious in the USPS for being the most F'd up facility. Letters and bubble mailers get though easily. Priority Mail boxes (and other boxes) do not. This facility processes all mail going into central Canada as well. US Customs is involved in the holdup here. If you know anything about zip codes, it is easy to figure out. There is no 'official' 55212 b/c there are no mailing addresses in that zip code. The processing plant is the only thing in it. St. Paul has the 551## zip code on the south side and Minneapolis has the 553## code. Eagan, MN is on the border of those two and therefore has the zip of 55212. If you see that zip code in your tracking list, IT IS IN EAGAN, MN!

#
By Scott on 2011/08/31 at 15:33:41

Also in TC, MN here. I have several packages out, and one is at 55212 and another is at 55121. I'm 99.9% sure that it is the same sorting facility in Eagan/St. Paul and that it should say 55121 for both. I should get them both tomorrow.

I too have "55212"

Enroute, Aug-31-11, 11:28 AM, UNKNOWN, 55212

Quite interesting actually. I have no doubt that the package will come, but its just mind boggling that this error still exists almost 4 years later.
