Vacation time

I recently decided I needed a vacation for sanity purposes. For various reasons I figure I'll take a few days off now, and then a little later plan something bigger. Then I take a look at my leave information and realize I'm way too close to the limits. Long story short, in order to not lose anything or use semi-questionable practices to push it off (aka using vacation time on holidays and banking the holiday time), I'm taking 3 weeks worth of various leave time in the next few months. And then I'll still have over 4.5 weeks of vacation time, some of which will need to be used quickly. So I need to decide on something interesting to do. Any good ideas?

You are actually taking time off? When was the last time that happened?

Honestly though, I can never think of anything good to do with vacation time. I usually end up reading books and working on my own personal computer projects. Of course, I generally do not have two months to mess around with.

Ideas were made easier since I now live away from everyone else.

So apart from visiting people you have not seen in a while, I cannot help. :P

Longer than a day? 92 days ago... :)

Yea, that's what some of my 4 weeks (I forgot some days in my initial count) in the next few months is gonna be. But I figured I should do something else too.

I've been actually sorta thinking of trip with a day each in a few cities, as it eliminates the where-to-go in favor of just seeing smaller stuff in more places. Looks like it could be done for a few hundred, although could be tiring to sustain that kind of schedule.

Expeida.com has some good prices. DC for $249, Vegas is cheap, or you could go to a beach some place!

Of course you could always come up to the LP area sometime and do some door knocking. That's how I spend my "free time".

I'll assume you mean Expedia there. I've already been to DC though.

As for the door knocking, I don't think you'll need help with that in January. Unless you're starting your re-election campaign very early. Plus then I'd have to actually talk to people in person...

Two words: DISNEY WORLD.

.......Kidding, of course. Disney land is more like it. Then you could sing the O.C. Song ("California... California...") the whole flight. Unless I have the two mixed up.

land is indeed in Cali. I'd definitely not be singing anything from The O.C. though. I'm not a huge theme park fan though, except for Six Flags, and then not for the themes. I'm not sure Magic Mountain is worth going to LA for though.

Missoula Montana & Coeur d'Alene Idaho, if your at all into the outdoors make for a fantastic thee day trip. Even if your not, both towns are cool to walk around and just look at stuff. Aleisha and I spent a weekend in Portland around this time of year last year. That was a lot of fun, it's a neat city to hang out in.

You should check out the "con" schedules. I know that toorcon just got over. Maybe you could go to defcon or the Penny Arcade one.

I like that idea. It's just too bad most of them are during the summer/early fall...
