Simple data integrity

Apparently some places still haven't learned why the ability to have NULL to exist independently of a blank data field is important. Inserting an old date into a data field when it's blank? Wow. As a humorous aspect, note the name of the girl.

I wonder what they do if someone enters a future date. Say the year 2106. Perhaps one would have to be summoned from the dead for jury duty.

I may be a little slow but why is the name humorous?

I guess it probably only makes sense if you know Firefly or Serenity.

And let's face it, Kaylee rocks, even if she is a bit of a pansy when it comes to things like danger and other such things commonly found on space ships.

Heh, running a DB and accessing it through HTML can get weird because NULL and "" are the considered the same thing. :P

And I'm assuming that the more entertaining part of her name was the combination of first and last names. That was a plot twist I didn't see coming... :)

What kind of language/db api are you using that doesn't differentiate?

And yes, that would be a rather funny plot twist.

Mal is way too much like a big bro to Kaylee for that to ever work. It would make things interesting though, especially between Kaylee and Inara.

Interesting would be an understatement...
