Started off the day rather late, meaning around 2 in the afternoon. Then my brother came over and brought a bunch of his stuff, plus a dining room table and chairs for me. He stayed around and watched some football games, and I started ripping out the drywall in the back of a cabinet in the kitchen to drill down through the base of the wall. Turns out the hole saw I have slips on the pilot bit (poor design IMHO) so I'm gonna have to get another one before doing any real work there. I sat around a lot for a while since the AV stuff was occupied so I couldn't do much down there. Later the family came over after picking up my sister who was coming back from Urbana and they looked around a bit since they hadn't been over in a while (and my dad had just put together a desk like mine). They left after a while, but my brother stuck around to finish the games. Shortly before the last game finished I started mounting shelves in the rack, and when it finished we started disconnecting and moving equipment. It's almost all in now although missing one component I need to fix and I obviously need to reroute some/run new cable due to the bundle of cables coming in the front by the floor and a rather blatant code violation careful viewers may notice. Everything is up and running though and hopefully I'll get everything permanently set in a few days.

I think the VCR is a blatent code violation. What Myth TV possessing geek has a VCR except to show the clock?

It looks to me like there was an outlet just to the right of the left stud, because there's a hole in the drywall there, with a wire running out of the other side of the stud from the back...probably going to move the box to the other side of the stud or remove it is my guess...Although I agree, having a VCR should be a blatant code violation.

The VCR does have the time. It's main use is a tuner since the projector doesn't have one internally (although that's sorta been replaced by the HD tuner for most purposes). It's also used as a comb filter (Composite to S-Video) for the CD player's video output so it can be sent to the projector. It's SVHS so the quality isn't so bad either, but I've only used it for playing tapes once (and that was to import them into the computer). As for the wire and hole in the drywall, that's actually a phone cable, and it's probably just gonna get mounted slightly over if it'll fit between the two studs on the left (since low-voltage doesn't need a box). There was an outlet in the middle but that's been totally removed. That's not the code violation though.
