So Twister has a lot of surround and LFE...like a lot. I feel like I got nothing done today, but oh well - it's a weekend. I did split loom tubing up to the projector today, which means all the cables run through it and don't have any tension on themselves, which is better (I'm guessing especially for VGA). While I was at it, I added an RS-232 cable in there which eventually will have the other end hooked to something too. Figured out another cable in the subwoofer channel was going goofy (one of the 1/4" balanced to RCA cables) while running the split loom since it kept moving that cable and it was intermittent. Replaced that, and now another annoying intermittent buzzing is gone. I managed to stay awake this long which is a feat considering I half slept through church and Sunday School this morning. I don't think I'm gonna press my luck any more though.

Saturdays are always fun, because I don't have to get up until 1 in the afternoon... I did manage to get up then and go buy some audio isolation transformers, which made me happy since the buzz from the one sub is gone now. I also went over to a little party at schdav's place. Nick and 10 were over there the whole time, and we had a bonfire and burgers on the grill and brooke and Steph and 10's roommate showed up too. Then Jeff came over, and brooke and Steph left, and we split up and Dave and I watched The Negotiator while the others watched the new Harry Potter movie. Fun night was had by all... Way too late though, since I have to get up early for church tomorrow...

Just finished watching Snatch since everyone was telling me how great of a movie it was. I liked the way they cut the scenes around high action/drama areas, and the way they mixed in Angel was nice too. Probably not the best movie to have that loud after midnight, but oh well. I do have to complain about how the number of flashes from the barrel of the guns didn't always match the number of shots fired based on sound and kick of the gun though... Tomorrow should be good since there's a little party over at schdav's place... That means I'll have to be awake before 1800 though. Hopefully I won't have to set my alarm. Actually I need to go shopping for an isolation transformer anyways to get rid of an annoying ground loop - it's been driving me nuts for a week...

I was thinking it was a pretty relaxed Sunday with just cleaning my room until I found out my grandma's water heater was leaking. That led to me have to go and buy and deliver a water heater. About the quickest water heater install ever too...no soldering needed at all... I also ended up disassembling and reassembling a VCR, but the gears in the transport were so messed up that it wouldn't move without playing with them a lot (it wouldn't accept tapes, which wasn't so bad since it started out having a tape stuck inside which wouldn't come out). Since it wanted to move pieces inside but couldn't it also went into some protection mode and shut down all the time, which meant rewiring the system to work without the VCR too... Oh well, I did end up grabbing boxes which I forgot were in the back of the van, and they helped me finish cleaning... Solid wooden boxes can be very handy for storing things in...just fill them up, nail on the lid, and stack them away... Movie of the day is Broken Arrow, which I forgot was a John Woo film (lots of effects and a ton of bass, at least one person sporting a gun in each hand, and some sort of flock of flying animals - butterflies in this one). The lack of sleep last night is catching up with me, and I have class in 8 hours. Hopefully I'll be semi-awake tommorrow...

I just got done watching Strange Brew. That is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. I mean, nice effects, eh? Anyways, I decided to actually clean today. I went through about half of the stuff on my desk, and threw away a mountain of junk. That mountain includes 2 Christmas light strings, 5 motherboards, and lots of boxest and packing material. I did scavenge before tossing, so now I have 3 512MB and one 64MB PC133 DIMMs I'm trying to find a use for... I somehow managed to have a box of CDs I got a couple months ago I hadn't ripped (I'm ripping all my CDs as wav files to a media jukebox) or loaded into the CD changer, so I listened to music loudly for a while too... I didn't get up until after 1300, so other than the above and chatting on IM for a long time, I didn't do much. I'm not excited about loosing an hour tonight, but I've already changed the one clock I have that I actually need to adjust manually (I love computers)... OK, enough rambling...

Movie nights are always fun... Bunch of friends came over and we watched Star Warp'd (great parody of pretty much every major scifi thing in the past few decades), another movie, and played some video games. Almost had a MST3K feel to it, since we had plenty of funny remarks to make. Maybe Jeff will have pictures up tomorrow. While I'm doing links, Dave, brooke, Joe, and Meghan were there. Andy and Cassi don't get links since they don't have web pages... This also means that I'm up to 55 hours on the projector - that thing's getting a nice workout. Maybe tomorrow I'll get around to doing some actual cleaning rather than just straightening up the place. Maybe find a more permanent home for the piles of computer stuff... Or at least I can always imagine I'll do something useful on a Saturday...

About 9 hours until class... :( The last day of break was good. Had a nice big turkey lunch, and then pulled out and opened up the 200 disc CD changer to figure out what was wrong with that. Got that fixed, and enjoyed listening to CDs rather than MP3s... Then I grabbed to extra speakers my brother had and hooked them up with another amp as back surround speakers, which brings it up to 7.1 channel. 7 channel stereo is really nice - it fills the room evenly. I discovered that dts NEO:6 actually sounds decent for some types of music, namely stuff with a live-style mix. Of course I had to top the night off with another movie - this time Mission Impossible. I guess I put off thinking about classes starting agani as long as possible... Now I need to be able to actually get up in the morning. We'll see how that goes...

I found out some cool stuff about my projector today. Apparently the serial interface is rather simple, and it's basically a serial console rather than some weird protocol. Also it's listed as supporting picture in picture, you just have to do it through serial since you specify the input and geometry of the window. That'll be cool if it works. I think I should be getting everything I need to hook a computer up to it more easily too, so that'll be nice. I also got a modem working to actually connect at 1200 7E1, which were the only settings that would work for the application, so that's done now. I guess that means I actually did something productive for the first time in quite a few days. And I watched Enemy of the State... I'm not all that excited classes and work start Monday since it means I won't be able to watch movies every night. Oh well, sounds like I'm havin another party Friday, so that's always something to look forward to...

Well, had a few friends over and we watched Windtalkers. It was actually a combination of watching the movie and making note of the ways in which it is a John Woo film. And I decided to go and dig out the Super Nintendo and hook that up, so I'm up to 41 hours on the projector now... Oh well, it doesn't do any good sitting there. :) My email has been down since at least 22:30, which isn't too fun (the server that actually has the mailboxes and client access is unreachable - I suppose I could read it in the queue on the frontend server, but I'm not that desperate). The fact that I haven't been even attempting to check it until everyone left a few minutes ago helps a bit there... Enough rambling - time to get some sleep...

Well, another night of movies as usual. Entrapment and Alian Resurrection tonight. I've only had my projector for 11 days, and I have 36 hours on it. Over 3 hours a day average, which is pretty good considering I practically didn't use it for the first week... :) I also backed up and tried to install Win98 on an HP Omnibook Sojourn laptop, which apparently has some weird high memory thing and the installer won't even run. I guess it's back to Win95C (practically Win98 anyways). I guess I should have expected it given it's all custom otherwise (it's about a half inch thick closed - and very light). Anyways, I guess I get some visitors, since someone noticed I actually updated this thing, and redid some other stuff on my site. I think it's time for me to go power cycle another machine and then go get some sleep though... I should start getting up before noon before classes start again...
